Luxiance

In previous blogs, we have talked about our Luxiance technology which utilizes active cooling to remove heat from our LED system. But what does this really mean to the LED?

How does this relate to the LM-79 and LM-80 tests?

LM-79 test results provide light output and color of the LED in their operating environment, which for Solais means the entire replacement lamp. LM-80 test results provide lumen depreciation over 6,000 to 10,000 hrs of the LED in its ideal operating situation.

Basically, the closer you can get the actual LED operating temperature to the ideal of the LM-80 testing the more accurate the LM-80 tests will pertain to the LED in its actual operating environment.

Remember, heat is the bane of LED existence. Heat will not only increase the lumen depreciation of the LED, but will also decrease the lumens per watt. This means the hotter the LED is, the less light it produces.

With Solais’ Luxiance technology we are able to keep our LEDs operating much cooler than other LEDs on the market. This allows superior output and performance from our LEDs without overdriving the LEDs and increasing the lumen depreciation.
